Please watch our video for an introduction to the ministry and the great need in Chile. |
David and Danielle have returned to Chile and have also rejoined up with veteran MTW missionaries John and Cathy Rug working among the differently enabled at CEMIPRE (see below) in the Valparaiso Region of Chile. They are very eager and excited to rekindle friendships that were only beginning to blossom and show fruit as short term missionaries. They will have a variety of jobs and tasks and will fill about any job given to them. Among those jobs include:
- Teaching Braille using John Rug's method of learning. This includes those losing their vision learning blindfolded so that when vision is gone they will not need to re-learn all over again.
- Teaching basic computer skills using computers with adaptive technology (computers that speak as you type and read the screen)
- Leading Bible studies at CEMIPRE and in our home.
- Teaching English using creative tactile methods.
- Being involved and available during Folklore Group. Singing traditional songs, telling stories, reading poetry, making and sharing mealtime.
- Home visitation, which usually include Bible studies and spending time with shut-ins and those who have trouble traveling to CEMIPRE.
David and Danielle will also be involved with a local church plant in the Valparaiso region, Iglesia Trinidad. Currently this church has two groups, Iglesia Trinidad de Reñaca and Iglesia Trinidad de Concón, with a third in the planning stage, Iglesia Trinidad de Viña del Mar.
David and Danielle are praying for a future outreach through the church to local college-aged people. This age group is vital to the future of the church and to the country. They are largely a group that has been unreached with the Gospel and in many cases uninterested. This is even more critical with young men. The Lord has laid this heavily on David's heart and he is very excited about the prospects of this ministry.
They will also be involved with hosting visiting church groups on short term work trips, doing much of the background work to make sure these are safe and productive times. David and Danielle also relish the idea of sharing the culture of their beloved Chile. If you have any interest in this type of trip, please contact us through the contact page.

CEMIPRE - CEntro de MInisterio PREsbiteriano or The Presbyterian Ministry Center
The main goal of CEMIPRE is to help people with disabilities overcome the emotional, spiritual, and physical challenges - and thus enjoy a full and successful life. Often, Jesus sought and healed people impacted by various disabilities. In the same spirit, CEMIPRE seeks to minimize the impact of disability through a comprehensive training program. We hope that those involved are seen as differently trained people and not as "disabled," and that every human being is created in the image of God people.
